William “Bill” F. Dulong, 79, of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Julianne B. (Caniglia) Dulong for 32 years and faithful companion of the late Francine M. Doyle for 18 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late George H. and Alice R. (Fox) Dulong.
Bill was a graduate of La Salle Academy, Class of 1966, Rhode Island Junior College, Class of 1968, and Providence College, Class of 1979. He worked as an accountant for the State of Rhode Island Department of Human Services for 35 years before retiring in 2004.
He was an avid golfer and proudly achieved a hole-in-one. Bill also enjoyed doing puzzles. He was incredibly encouraging and resilient; despite his ongoing battle with cancer. Bill always emphasized that he was “still gonna fight.” He also had an incredible sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. Most of all, Bill cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his children: Jessica Lambert and her husband Ron, Jill Dulong, and Paul Patenaude. Additionally Bill leaves behind his beloved grandchildren; Thomas Lambert, Sophia Patnaude, Guilianna Johnson, Sierra Johnson, and Hunter Dulong, who fondly referred to him as “Grampy”. He was the brother of George Dulong, Robert Dulong, and Maureen Gaccione, and the beloved nephew of Lillian Rachiele. He was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The family of Bill would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Benedito Carneiro and the entire team at the Miriam Cancer Center for the incredible care and compassion they provided during his treatment. We also extend our gratitude to the staff at Morgan Rehabilitation Center, especially Melissa and Kelly. A very special thank you to Bill’s CNAs who allowed him to stay at home: Michelle Castillo, his angel for the past six months who never left his side; Yajaira Costa; and Jarysol Berroa, who helped care for him during his final weeks.
Visitation will be Friday, May 22, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston.
