William F. Calise, Esq., 77, of Coventry, passed away on February 24th at home. He was the husband of Leona A. (Conneely) Calise to whom he was married to for 39 years.
He was born in Providence, the son of the late Francesca (Primavera) and Frank Calise.
Bill was a member of the first Bishop Hendricken High graduating class and continued his education at Brown University, the University of Rhode Island.
Following ten years of teaching general science at the middle school level, he received his law degree from Suffolk University School of Law and was admitted to the Rhode Island Bar and the United States District Bar in 1977.
Bill was an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Warwick for many years. Besides maintaining a private practice of civil and criminal litigation, he also served as a prosecutor for the City of Warwick.
Bill was an avid card player and an enthusiastic Patriot fan. He enjoyed oil painting, relaxing with a good book, black cats, lobster, and sleeping in front of the TV.
Besides his wife and best friend, he is survived by a brother Joseph (wife, Linda) Calise of Onset, MA. He was the beloved uncle of Gregory M. Howarth, Jr (wife, Charleen) and Amy E Howarth Azouz (husband, Brian). He cherished the time spent with his grand-niece Autumn Howarth and grand-nephew Benjamin Azouz.
His funeral will take place Saturday, March 5, at 10 am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Burial will be private. Visitation will take place Saturday morning from 9 am until the time of service at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
