Vivian (Tomasso) Picone, 95, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Angelo "Pic" Picone.
She is survived by her children, Karen Murtha and her husband, Ned, Janet Cardin and her husband, Joseph, Ann Pinheiro and her husband, James, and Thomas Picone and his wife, Dolores. She will always be “Gramma” to Kelly Cardin, Cory Pinheiro, Kimberly Ballowe, Christopher Cardin, Courtney Murtha, Brandon Pinheiro, Damian Pinheiro, Haley Haughey, Domenic Picone and Benjamin Picone.
Vivian was born in Providence to Ernest and Autelia "Delia" (Corbi) Tomasso. In 1947, she graduated Central High School, where she met her prom date and future husband, Pic. Vivian had a great laugh and quiet strength. She was not afraid to learn new things, such as cake decorating and bowling, and she took trips to Italy and Las Vegas — each time conquering her fear of flying. Vivian dedicated her life to others, spending countless hours caring for her spirited grandchildren. Her home was a haven for family and friends who sought her warmth, comfort, and coffee. She hosted countless holidays, birthdays and dinners.
Vivian was also a devoted parishioner at St. Mary's Church and active in her children's school activities. After her kids were grown, she worked in the gift shop of Calart Flowers, where she built an impressive collection of Buyer’s Choice carolers. Vivian loved shopping and never got over the Christmas Tree Shop closing.
Vivian is also survived by her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Stella, Serenity, Henry, Audrey, Hawley, Siena, Delia, Callahan, Sloane, and Luca. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Tomasso.
Vivian’s legacy is in the love she shared and her radiant smile, which we will never forget.
Her visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m., at the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Cranston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are greatly appreciated to the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main St, Providence, RI 02904.
