Virginia "Ginny" Buote Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” M. (Anderson - Montella) Buote, 85, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Hope Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was the beloved wife of Jerry Buote.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Mary C. (Manuppelli) and John J. Anderson, Sr.

Ginny was a graduate of Warwick Vets High School, where she served as Secretary of the Class of 1958 and met her husband, Jerry, for the first time. They became reacquainted many years later while planning their 40th Class Reunion. Following graduation, Ginny married and started a family, and later became a legal secretary with the law office of A. J. Brosco, and then at the law firm of Adler, Pollock & Sheehan for twenty-five years. After a brief retirement, she served as Service Coordinator for the Warwick Collision Center at Inskip Auto Mall.

Outside of her day job, Ginny sang professionally with her close friend and pianist, Billy Moretti,  and with many other musicians over the years. She belted out jazz standards and songs from the Great American Songbook to the delight of all who were lucky enough to hear her. She was a gifted crafter whose specialty was beautifully adorned Christmas boxes and wreaths. She had a penchant for spending time at the casino, where she enjoyed the energy and excitement of slot play. A wonderful cook, Ginny loved preparing family meals for her large extended family, culminating in the eagerly anticipated Feast of the Seven Fishes every Christmas Eve.

Ginny’s greatest joy in life was her family. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Patrick T. Conley, Jr. and his wife Debra, Kathleen Proulx and her husband Robert, Carolyn Panos and her husband Ernie, Sharon Hanlon and her husband Jim, Salvatore Montella, Jr. and his wife Laurel, Christine Dease and her husband Ernie, and the late Sharon Ventrigilia.

She was the sister of John J. Anderson, Jr., and Lyn Spinella. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Anne, Brendan, Christina, Stephanie, Daniel, James, Will, Danene, Krista, Jimmy, Mary-Ashley, Kyle, and Ryan, and great-grandchildren Benjamin, Emily, Sophia, Luke, Beau, Londyn, Freddie, Mary Elizabeth, AJ, and one baby boy on the way. Ginny was predeceased by her previous husband, Salvatore L. Montella Sr., and her sister Elizabeth Anderson.
