Virginia Cavanaugh Obituary

Virginia Alice Cavanaugh, 96, of Waterford, CT, formerly of Johnston, RI, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2025 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, New London, CT.  Born May 10, 1929, in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Emily (Gallant) Cavanaugh.

 

Virginia worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for many years before retiring. She has made her home with her niece, Patricia Hannaford, since 2021. Virginia was active at the Ross Adult Day Center in Norwich. Her family wishes to thank the staff of the Ross Adult Day Center for the loving and attentive care she received there.

 

In addition to her niece, Patricia Hannaford, Virginia is survived by her great nephew, William Hannaford and his wife Mallory; her great nieces, Stacey Flynn and her husband Sean Flynn, Sr., and Tara Hannaford; her great-great nieces, Victoria Hannaford, Elizabeth Hannaford, Kaitlin Flynn and Catherine Hannaford; and her great-great nephews, Sean Flynn, Jr. and Timothy Flynn.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Jan. 17, at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Dr., Cranston, RI. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation is respectfully omitted. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are greatly appreciated to the Ross Adult Day Center, 165 McKinley Ave., Norwich, CT 06360.
