Vincent Pera, Jr., M.D. of Cranston, and Narragansett passed away on August 3, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer Conklin Pera for 30 years.
Born January 31, 1956, and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island, Vincent was the son of the late Jennie Frances Parente and Vincent Pera, Sr.
He was the brother-in-law of Suzanne Conklin, Elizabeth Conklin, M.D., and Jonathan Conklin. He was the uncle of Nina and Amy Conklin. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and godchildren. Vin shared his love, kindness, and dry sense of humor with family and friends.
Dr. Pera earned a double major in Biology and Music at Providence College. He graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Miriam Hospital. He then completed a fellowship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence. He was board-certified in bariatric medicine and was the director of the Weight and Wellness Institute. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Bariatric Medicine and an assistant professor of medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. He was highly respected by his colleagues, associates, and his many patients.
He was a devoted and loving husband. Vin and Jen traveled all over the world, often with friends and relatives. They also enjoyed dining and dancing at the Dunes Club and University Club.
Vincent was an accomplished pianist. He loved to fill a room with beautiful music for family and friends to enjoy on his grand piano. He played all types of music, and especially enjoyed listening to jazz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 am. Burial will be private. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
