Tyler Young Obituary

Tyler Sherwood Young was born on July 13, 1978, and was the greatest gift of life to his parents Sherwood (Woody) and Janis Young of Mashpee, MA. He was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Tracy Young, and they made their home in Cranston, RI.

Tyler graduated from Holy Name high school in Worcester, MA, and received a BS degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College in Milton, MA. He started his career working with troubled youth as a counselor at an alternative jail facility. From there he was a paramedic for many years. But, he finally found his true profession in the golf industry as a master golf club fitter, first working for Golfsmith, and then for Dick's Sporting Goods.

Tyler was a gifted athlete beginning in all youth sports, and excelled in baseball and football in high school where he was co-captain of the football team. He went on to play football at Curry College. Most recently, he was a member of Cranston Country Club, where he was a single digit golfer. Tyler was a purist who walked the course, carrying his bag on his shoulders.

In addition to his wife and parents, Tyler leaves behind a large and loving family and many longtime friends. Family was first and foremost to Tyler. He looked forward to every family event, where his presence was larger than life and you would be sure to find him in the kitchen tending to one of his famous baked goods, especially his German apple walnut cake (minus the walnuts). He was a loyal and loving son and husband and a comforting friend to all who knew him. Tyler was a beacon of light in this world and he is missed beyond words. To honor his memory, we ask that you live your life filled with love, saying I love you and giving big hugs often. Tyler's bear hugs were simply the best.

No formal services will be held as Tyler certainly would not want anyone to be required to wear long pants. A celebration of Tyler's life will be held at a future date where you are encouraged to wear your favorite golf shorts/attire.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
