Theresa S. (Da Lomba) Fernandes

Theresa (Da Lomba) Fernandes, 68, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 23, 2026 at Roger Williams Medical Center. Born Sept. 2, 1957, in Brava, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of Matilde Leca.

Theresa devoted her life to her daughters and her grandchildren. Her love for her family was of utmost importance; indeed she was her family’s biggest supporter. She was the sweetest, most gentle soul. Generous beyond measure. She will truly be missed. 

She leaves her daughters, Tiffany VanAvery (her late husband, Kevin) and Desirae Caldero (her husband, Elvin), and her six grandchildren who she adored, Brianna, Alexia, Jelani, Chloe, Sophia and Vivian. She also leaves her siblings, Jose Cruz, Candida Barros, Silvia Cruz, and her late brother, Aguinado Veiga, her late sister, Maria Cristina Cruz, also her sister Aura Holtzer, Maria Centeio and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation, Monday, Feb. 2, from 4pm until 7pm at the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave, Cranston. A funeral service will be held at Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 10am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home with burial following at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
