Seberina Mercado

Seberina Mercado, 86, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Born in the Dominican Republic, she was a daughter of the late Leoncio Valerio and Ines Mercado.

Seberina was the beloved mother of Enilda Guinta and her husband Jorge Guinta, Noris Lora and her husband Fernando Lopez, and Luis Mercado. She was the grandmother of five grandchildren, Jorge Guinta, Gina Stenhouse, Laury Lopez, Fernando Lopez Jr., and Norily Lopez, she was the great grandmother of Amelia Stenhouse, Calvin Stenhouse, Adira Lopez, Ameliani De Los Santos, Jenalys Lopez, Anthony Lopez, and Angel Lopez. She was the sister of Tomasa Mercado and the late Lola and Benancio Mercado.

Seberina was a very kind-hearted woman, she was often referred to as the neighborhood “Mama”. She treated everyone like family. She enjoyed dancing and watching her favorite shows, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Tuesday, May 27, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Charles Church, 178 Dexter Street, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
