Salvatore Soscia Obituary

Salvatore Soscia, 98, of Cranston, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 14, surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late Domenic and Anna (Sinapi) Soscia, he was the devoted husband of Lucy (“Lou” Montuori) Soscia for 60 years until her passing in 2011.

Sal bravely served his country during World War II on the USS St. Paul, following his enlistment in the Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor. A dedicated electrical engineer, he spent his entire career at General Electric, where he designed and patented numerous products. An active member of his community, Sal was a longtime member of Potowomut Golf Club, a frequent blood donor, and a faithful communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, where he served with the St. Joseph’s Men’s Guild.

Sal was a true gentleman and will be long remembered for his kindness, compassion, and selflessness. He was predeceased by his brother, Bamby Soscia, in 2015. He is survived by his loving daughters, Cheryl Lundh (husband Earl Lundh) and Lori Wragg (husband Scott Wragg), as well as his sisters Nancy Freeman and Sandra Sozanski. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Ashey (Lundh) Lombardi (husband Ryan Lombardi), Justin Lundh (wife Sarah Lundh), Ryan Wragg (wife Abby Wragg), and Danielle (Wragg) Holleran (husband Joseph Holleran). Sal also adored his five great-grandchildren: Brayton, Calvin, Cameron, Carter, and Theodore.  May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 8:30 AM from “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a eulogy service at 9:45 AM in the church prior to the start of Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston followed by interment with Military Honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home Monday, March 18 from 4 - 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
