Rose (Vescera) Rega, 91, lifelong resident of Cranston, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the West Shore Health Center in Warwick, RI from complications of late-stage dementia.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Rega for 64 years, mother of Donna M. Rega of Warwick, like a mother to Jose "Jun" Lizarda of Cranston and to her beloved dachshunds, Lexie and Josie.
Born in Providence on March 25, 1935, she was the youngest child of the late Carolina (Pagano) and Michael Vescera and was predeceased by her sisters Mary Katowitcz (Charles), Grace Branca (Armondo), Celestina (Chill) Rainone (Costanzo) and brothers Nicola, Joseph and John. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, two goddaughters, Nancy (Branca) DeFazio and Rita (Magno) DeFusco and many friends.
Rose was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her home. She certainly had the gift of gab!
She enjoyed her family and many friends and was a zealous fan of situation comedies and The Young & the Restless and The Bold & the Beautiful daytime TV dramas.
Special thanks to Kent Hospital, Alpine Nursing Home, West Shore Health Center and Nursing Placement Hospice care for supporting Rose with gentle kindness, care and affection on her final journey home.
Her funeral and visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 9:00 until 10:00 AM with a Funeral Service to begin at 10:00 AM in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to any Hospice Care of your choice in Rose's memory would be immensely appreciated.
