Rose (Melillo) Marsocci, 94, of Los Angeles, CA, formerly of Warwick, passed away peacefully Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded by family. She was the wife of Robert D. Marsocci.
Born Oct. 9, 1929, in Providence, she was a daughter of Italian immigrants, Domenic and Maria (Palumbo) Melillo. Raised on Federal Hill, Rose was among the first generation that helped shape one of the most iconic Little Italy communities in the country.
Rose was beloved by everyone who knew her. She was an excellent cook, great dancer, and always open to adventure. A fashionista in her day, Rose dressed with impeccable style. Ahead of her generation, she worked many years after graduating from Central High School in Providence, didn’t marry until the “old age” of almost 32 years old and was truly a trailblazer of her time. As a mom to four boys, she was a big fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots. Rose was truly an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in law.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, she leaves behind four sons and daughters-in-law, Dino Marsocci (Helen), Robert “Bobby” Marsocci (Lissette), Christopher Marsocci (Victoria), and Kenneth Marsocci (Myra); eight grandchildren, Michael, Elena, Hoang, Cristina, Katherine, Miranda, Shanti and Marly, and her great granddaughter Diana.
She was the sister of the late Frank Melillo, Anthony Melillo, Anna Moscarelli, Filomena “Mena” Sukaskas, and Nancy Matarese.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Wednesday, October 16, from 10am until 11am, at the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, where a funeral service will begin at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are greatly appreciated.
