Robert E. Gorman, Jr., age 100, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Anna M. (Poli) Gorman.
Born Sept. 26, 1924, in Providence, he was a son of the late Robert E. Gorman, Sr. and Harriett M. (Sears) Gorman.
Like so many of his generation, Robert was a decorated WWII veteran having served with the US Army, attaining the rank of Sargeant. He bravely served in the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe (Ruhr Pocket, Battle of the Bulge, Aachen, Ardenne Forest Offensive, Saint Vith Offensive). He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon.
In addition to his wife of 76 years, he leaves his son, Robert E. Gorman, III and his wife Judith of Boca Raton, FL; his daughter, Cheryl A. Nersesian and her husband Edward, of North Providence; and his special loving son Raoul Lefebvre and his special loving daughter Ivy Booth both of Charlestown; and his three grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy and Robbie.
He was the brother of the late George T. Gorman and Donald E. Gorman.
Military Honors and Committal Prayers will take place Monday, March 3, at 10:30am at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, South County Trail, Exeter. (Attendees are asked to meet at 10:15am at the Funeral Cortege meeting area located just past the Administration Building inside the main entrance.)
