Rina B. (Tyler) LaPorte

Rina (Tyler) LaPorte, 84, of Warwick, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. LaPorte. 

Born on August 1, 1940, in Woonsocket, RI, Rina was the heart and soul of her family. 

Rina’s greatest joy came from being surrounded by loved ones. Her passion was supporting her children and grandchildren in all their interests and pursuits. Family and pets Barnaby, Cleo, and Angus were her world, although we’re not sure who she loved more…pets or family. Rina enjoyed cooking her famous French meat pies and Irish Soda bread for friends and loved ones every holiday.

Beyond her role as a wife and mother, Rina was passionate about working in Special Events at Brown University. She was an integral part of their commencement ceremonies for 20 +years. She took great pride in her beautiful penmanship and personally scribed thousands of invitations for the university during her years of service.

In addition to her husband, Rina leaves her three children, Raymond T. McKay, Robin F. Pimentel (Joseph), and Ronnee M. Deelsnyder; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Veronica, Dakota, Noah, Emily, Samuel, Kamie-Rae, Thomas and Jason; 13 great-grandchildren, and her God-son, Andrew Gregoire. 

Rina is pre-deceased by her parents John E. Tyler and Gertrude A. Dufresne and her two sisters Kathleen Gregoire and Patricia Levesque.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation, Sunday, March 9, from 2pm until 5pm in the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Her funeral will be held at 8:45am Monday, March 10, from the “Woodlawn” Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Timothy’s Church, Warwick. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
