Richard L. Fracasso, 76, of Cranston, passed away at home with his wife at his side, Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2025. He was the husband of Karen (Baptista) Fracasso, stepfather to Jason and Derek Couture and the late Kayla Couture. “Papa” to Damon Greene, Jordan Kwandranc, and Jazelyn, Derek Jr., Alessio, Avery, Colin, Isaiah, Lucio and Santi Couture.
Born in Providence, on Feb. 2, 1949, he was the son of the late Andrew and Janet (DiCarlo) Fracasso.
Richard spent his early years living on Federal Hill before moving to Johnston at age 9. He always loved cars, buying and selling them after fixing them up, keeping them meticulously clean. He was an auto mechanic until he became a RIPTA bus driver in 1981. Richard was a proud ATU member and after driving for 17 years, he became a street supervisor, retiring in 2018. He didn’t think that he would enjoy retirement, but he eventually found things to keep himself busy. He enjoyed spending time with Damon and Jordan after their mom’s passing bringing them to Red Sox games, WWE matches, outdoor concerts, fairs, fishing, or whatever he thought that they may enjoy. He always looked forward to coffee on Thursdays with his friends, that being one of the only things that he did for himself. Richard was always there to help a friend or family member. Richard was the brother of the late Dolores Fracasso and Shirley Mesiti and uncle to the late Benjamin Mesiti, Esq. and great uncle to Arabella Mesiti.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 4pm until 7pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. His funeral will be held at 8:45am Thursday, Jan. 22, from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Ghost Church, Atwells Ave., Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
