Richard Greene, Sr. Obituary

RICHARD W. GREENE, SR., 73, of Providence, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Providence, he was the son of Gerald Greene, Sr. of Providence and the late Emmalina (Fratus) Greene.

A master craftsman and dedicated artisan in the jewelry industry, Richard spent over 40 years of his life perfecting the intricate art of fabricating molds for crafting jewels. His expertise and passion for the craft were evident in every piece he worked on, contributing to the beauty and elegance of countless treasured items.

In his younger years, Richard enjoyed spending time camping with his family and sunny afternoons on the golf course with his buddies.

Richard had a passion for playing retro video games and computer gaming. With Skyrim being one of his favorite games, he enjoyed the challenge of every new quest.

Shopping at Job Lot was another activity that brought him joy. Whether it was finding a great deal or simply browsing the snack aisles, Richard found pleasure in these simple moments.

Besides his father, he is survived by his daughter, Amy and her husband Shawn Stephens of Iowa, and his son, Richard Greene II and his wife Cara of Johnston. Richard was the brother of Gerald Greene, Jr., Marie Lariviere, Joseph Greene, Dori Greene, Bernadette Greene, James Greene and the late William Greene. He was the loving grandfather of Richard Greene III, Harlie Greene, Madelyn Wozny, Andru Stephens, Quinn Stephens, Tatum Stephens, Roxy Greene and River Greene. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his canine companion, Max, who he loved.
