Richard D. Farrell

Richard David Farrell, 91, of North Scituate, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard was the heart of a close-knit family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marguerite Farrell, and their four children: Elizabeth Jaworski (Jim), Marianne Thomas (Sean), James Farrell (Karen), and Kevin Farrell.  He was pre-deceased by his son Richard David Farrell Jr and his grandson Timothy Farrell.

Richard took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to James Jaworski (Vanessa), Ryan Thomas (Abbey), Sarah Thomas, Emily Thomas, Scott Thomas, Elizabeth Haroun (Didier), Jennifer Jaworski, Connor Farrell, and Brayden Farrell. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Max, Colton, and Chloe Jaworski.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Richard continued his commitment to excellence through education, earning his degree from Boston College. He went on to enjoy a long and accomplished career at FM Global, retiring in 1996.

Richard had a lifelong passion for reading and an enduring love of history. He enjoyed taking walks with his wife, golfing and found his greatest joy in the company of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His warmth, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Farrell family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered kind thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time. A special note of gratitude to Dr. Anthony Thomas for his devoted and caring attention over the past 30 years, and to Hope Hospice for the gentle and thoughtful care they provided to our father in his final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 13, at 10am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Burial is private. Visitation is respectfully omitted.
