Richard Calcione Obituary

Richard E. Calcione, 82, of Johnston, passed away Thursday morning, August 31, 2023 at Orchard View Manor. He was the beloved husband of Joanne J. (Capobianco) Calcione.

Born Oct. 16, 1940, in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Elsie (Lettieri) Calcione.

A veteran of the US Army, Richard worked for more than 30 years as a maintenance custodian with the US Postal Service before retiring.

Richard was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He will be remembered for his love for his family, his dogs, his big personality, traveling and visiting Foxwoods casino. Richard was a very faithful and a very generous man.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his daughter, Melissa J. Calcione. Richard was the brother of the late Johanne Mercurio.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, September 5, at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Military honors and burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation is respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are greatly appreciated to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
