Raymond V. Tremblay, Jr., “Ray” 73, passed away peacefully at home Monday, May 15, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Kimberly F. (Fay) Tremblay, having been married for almost 44 years and together for 46 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Tremblay and the beloved family pup, Harley. Son of Raymond V. Tremblay, Sr. and Vincenza (Miele), Ray was the second oldest of 15 children survived by John “Jackie,” Robert, Gary, Claudette, Leo, Darlene, Thomas, Sister Mary Agnes (Christine), Paul, Michael, David, Donna and Billy and the late Peter Tremblay.
Ray grew up in Providence, RI and always had a hard work ethic that drove him beyond his circumstances. Ray was a first-generation college graduate having attended on the GI bill after his service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War Era. Ray received his B.S. in Business Management from Johnson & Wales University. He retired from National Grid after almost 30 years as a Meter Reader. He was a lifelong parishioner of Immaculate Conception, and formerly St. Mark’s Church.
Ray had a deep passion for music coupled with natural talents, having taught himself guitar and enjoyed singing live shows as well as in the local choir for many years. He enjoyed the art of collecting, studying history, negotiating a good deal, the simple pleasure of watching a movie in his home cinema, and making friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed a good joke and always had a way of making light of even the toughest situations. That said, he was the epitome of a backseat driver, tormenting all at the wheel relentlessly. He was an original foodie, sourcing the best local eats well before YouTube and Instagram. Mostly, Ray loved just the simple things in life, a strong cup of coffee and a good meal while retelling his favorite stories to his closest family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Assembly for Ray’s funeral will begin Monday at 8:45 AM from “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation SUNDAY 2-5 PM at “WOODLAWN.”
