Rachel Rodi Obituary

Rachel Marie Rodi, 39, formerly of Cranston, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Burlington, Vermont, on October 3, 2025. Born in Providence on February 10, 1986, she was the daughter of the late Deanna (Rodi) Quaranta.

Rachel will be remembered for her radiant, complex, and deeply creative spirit. A gifted writer and poet, she possessed a rare way of seeing the world — through rhythm, color, and truth. Her artistry took many forms; she found joy in painting and drawing, creating pieces that reflected her imagination and sensitivity. During her high school years, at Cranston West, Rachel shared her voice in local poetry slams and theatrical performances, where her courage and charisma filled every room. She also had a playful side, serving as her high school mascot and embracing joy wherever she could find it.

Books were her constant companions. She surrounded herself with words, ideas, and the solace of imagination. Those who knew her best remember a young woman both fierce and tender — unafraid to question, to dream, and to love in her own quiet, determined way. Life presented challenges that tested her deeply, yet she carried within her a spark of resilience that could not be dimmed.

Rachel found comfort and joy in caring for her birds, whose songs brought peace to her heart and light to her home.

She is survived by her Nana, Carol A. Rodi, who was Rachel’s dearest friend and confidant; her loving aunts and uncles Richard Rodi Jr., Gregory Rodi, Cheryl Rodi, and Julie Smith; and her cousins Ryan Brown, Joseph Lyons Jr., Matthew Lyons, Justin Lyons, Jacob Rodi, Anthony St. Laurent, and Abigail Rodi. She was predeceased by her mother and her grandfather, Richard Rodi Sr.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 28, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm with a celebration of Rachel’s life to begin at 4:00 pm at the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rachel’s memory may be made to Hearts of Feathers Avian Rescue, honoring her love of birds and all living things. (https://www.facebook.com/heartsoffeathers)

“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song.” — Maya Angelou

And now, at last, her song is free.
