Philip Fortunati Obituary

Philip F. Fortunati, 79, of Cranston, passed away Friday evening, June 5, 2026 peacefully surrounded by his family.

 

Born September 12, 1946, in Providence, he was a son of the late Phillip and Anna (Buonani) Fortunati. 

 

He proudly served with the US Army and National Guard of Rhode Island.

 

Philip was the proud owner of The Shoe Horn, a multi-generational family owned and operated business started by his grandfather in 1917. In his leisure time, Philip enjoyed cooking, golfing, and bowling, as well as playing basketball and cards with his friends. 

 

He leaves his daughter, Joelle Contillo, and his granddaughter, Brianna Erbe. 

 

Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, from 8:45 am until 9:45 am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 am in St. Mark’s Church, Cranston. Military honors and burial will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
