Peter Capalbo, Jr. Obituary

Peter A. Capalbo, Jr., 92, affectionally known as “Junior” to his family, was welcomed by the Lord June 24, 2024 at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, Austin, Texas, with his wife and daughters by his side. He was the beloved husband of Vincenza (Conte) Capalbo, and together shared much love, laugher and tradition rooted in two very special harmonious Italian families.


Born March 10, 1932, in Providence, RI, he was a son of the late Peter Anthony and Margaret (Ravo) Capalbo.


Peter was a business/finance graduate of Providence College (1953) He faithfully served as a military police officer in the US Army during Korean War times, Upon graduation, and after military honorable discharge, he began his career in the 1950’s in the jewelry industry, first with his father, Peter Sr.. He later advanced his career serving as Senior VP of Purchasing, and Director of production for several firms traveling the world sourcing precious stones, and building long lasting relationships until his retirement.


Peter’s career accomplishments did not define him as a person. He was a loving, generous, supportive, warm, and nurturing father to his children and grandchildren. He treasured his large family rich with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who all share many memories of laugher with “Junior, or “Uncle Peter”and have a story to tell.


In addition to his wife of 64 years, he leaves his two daughters, Elaina Capalbo  and Gina (Capalbo) Nix, and his grandchildren, Evan Peter Nix and Carlie, Morgan Conte Nix and fiance', Dalton Gribble, and great- grandson Colter William Nix.


He is survived by his loving brother of William N. Capalbo, the late Dr. Carmine J. Capalbo and the late Marie G. “Mary” Capalbo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation Thursday, July 18, from 4pm until 7pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, where a funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, at 11am. Burial with military honors to follow the chapel service at St. Ann Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks for the giving of yourself in an act of kindness to those who may be in need.
