Myrna Kidd Obituary

Myrna Kidd, age 76, died unexpectedly on January 25, 2020, in Bradenton, Florida.  At the time of her death, she was in a loving company with her immediate family by her side. Myrna was a resident of North Fort Myers, Florida, (nee Myrna Lee Williams, a ninth-generation direct descendant of Roger Williams, the founder in 1636 of the State of Rhode Island & Providence Plantations) and was born May 13, 1943, at the Providence Lying-In Hospital (later known as Women & Infants Hospital). Myrna was the daughter of the late George B. Williams & Emily (Koegel) Williams (later, Emily Stafford), both from Summit (Coventry), RI, and she is survived by one son, Kenneth Williams Thistlewaite of North Fort Myers, Florida, and one daughter, Sharon Thistlewaite Morra of Warwick, RI.

Myrna graduated from West Warwick Senior High School in 1961 and immediately went to work for Amica Insurance (back then, the company was head-quartered in downtown Providence). She married the late Harold Thistlewaite, Jr, also from West Warwick, RI, owner and operator of P.T. Aero Service, in November 1962, and they ultimately settled in East Greenwich, RI, in order to raise their family. Together, for a couple of years during the early 1970's, Harold & Myrna owned & operated the Atlantic Shellfish Company, a fresh fish & seafood store that was located in downtown Artic (West Warwick), RI. After a fairly decent run, they elected to end the enterprise, at which point Myrna went to work in the front office for Coronet Thermogravers, located in Cranston, RI; there, she remained employed for over ten years, up until the company closed in the mid-1980's.

Later in life, Myrna was married a second time to the late Gerald T. Kidd of Portsmouth, RI, owner and operator of J.T. Kidd Construction, and together, the couple divided their time between two homes: in Portsmouth and the other in North Fort Myers, Florida. She was widowed in 2012, and by then, she had settled permanently in Florida; there, she lived for the final eight years of her life with her son.

Beloved by her family & her many friends, and well-respected within her community, Myrna was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxilliary in North Fort Myers, FL. Indeed, she will be forever missed by everyone whose life that she touched.

A memorial service will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located in Cranston, RI. Rhonda Clement Bergeron will officiate the ceremony.
