Moraine Burns Obituary

Moraine M. Burns, 76, died Tuesday, May 24th at Westview Nursing Home with her beloved friend, Colleen, by her side. Moraine was born March 31, 1946, in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Harvey B. and Moraine M. Tebbetts.

Moraine was a graduate of the Roger Williams Hospital School of nursing program. Moraine spent her entire fifty-year career working for the State of a Rhode Island at the Eleanor Slater Hospital. She began as a staff nurse and eventually worked her way into a management position.

Moraine was active in her local union (Nage). She worked tirelessly as union vice president and eventually union president. Moraine believed in protecting the rights of her coworkers and always had a special place in her heart for the underdog. She had a gift for working with individuals with mental illness, it was her true calling. She was gifted the nickname "Mommy" by her beloved patients, who she cared for endlessly.

Moraine was preceded in her death by her husband, Robert E. Burns.

Moraine was at her happiest with her family, they shined light on her life. She loved her everyday pastry from her local bakery, and her television shopping networks and had a passion for shopping - the woman loved to shop. She was happiest buying for others. That is the kind of woman she was and is.

Moraine is survived by her children, Deana Burns Dutton (Ron) of Philadelphia, Damon Christopher Burns (Stephanie) of Warwick, Rhode Island. She was a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. She was cherished by many.
