Michelle Ann Leone, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 6th in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born on January 28th, 1970 in Providence, Rhode Island to her loving parents Lori and Leone Leone. Fifteen months after her arrival, her younger brother Jason Leone was born. The family of four resided in Providence, spending every weekend on Block island helping out in the family Bakery. In the summer of 1974, Leo and Lori opened a bicycle rental shop and every summer from then on was spent on the island. Michelle’s very first job was manning the family’s arcade room, changing dollars for quarters where she became well known by kids and adults alike on the island. Her charming bright smile and piercing blue eyes left a lasting impression on anyone that met her. As Michelle got older and outgrew the arcade, she graduated to working at her aunt and uncle’s pizza shop next door. Her personality shined behind that counter - a natural at customer service, she packed the bar nightly with loyal locals, vacationers, and, of course, her friends. In the winter seasons she made her mark on numerous well-known Providence stables such as Murphy’s Pub in downtown Providence, the Rhode Island convention center, and the Providence Biltmore. To say she had built a following would be an understatement. It comes as no surprise that throughout her 53 years of life she made countless friends, making each feel at home in her presence. Michelle was a master at making friends. Her charisma, loyal heart, and genuine ability to care and be present was simply amazing.
In the summer of 1997, Michelle welcomed her greatest joy in life, her daughter Gabriella Alves. The two made a loving home filled with laughter, family, and friends. Michelle loved children, went crazy for her cats, and, of course, Mickey Mouse. As the oldest grandchild on both sides of her family she always took on a caretaking role. Everyone looked up to her in the family as the big sister - always smiling and always the life of the party. Michelle is loved and survived by her father Leone Leone, her brother Leone Leone Jr., her daughter Gabriella Alves, niece Maria Leone, and nephews Jason Jr., Mossimo, Anthony, and Lucas Leone, and her numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michelle will most be remembered by her heart that was larger than life, her infectious laughter, and her fierce love for those closest to her.
A wake will be held at "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston on Monday, July 17th from 4 - 7 p.m. On Tuesday, July 18th, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrew Church, Block Island at 11 a.m. Following the service she will be laid to rest alongside her mother and brother in Island Cemetery, Block Island.
