Michael G. Sotirakos, 92, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Thursday morning, July 6, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Caliope (Stamatakos) Sotirakos.
He was born the oldest of four children to George and Christofili (Papadakos) Sotirakos in Dafni, Laconia Greece on November 17, 1930.
After marrying his loving wife Caliope in 1955, he emigrated to Rhode Island where they founded the Weinorama Restaurant in Cranston.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man who was proud and passionate of his Greek heritage. Along with spending time with his family, he was an avid boater, and in retirement, loved traveling the country with his wife.
He was the beloved father of George Sotirakos and wife Doreen, Christina Rotkin and husband Lawrence, Ernest “Taso” Sotirakos and wife Angelyn; grandfather of Melissa, Stacy, Alexandra and Michael; and great-grandfather of Aubrie.
He was the brother of Anna Hantzakos, Stella Pristouris and the late Panagiotis Sotirakos.
His family would like to extend their gratitude for the loving care provided for their father while at Greenwich Farms at Warwick and for the care and support provided through VNA Care New England Hospice.
His funeral and visitation will be held Monday morning, July 10, from 8:30 am until 10:00 am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial will follow at North Burial Ground, Providence.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
