Michael T. O’Brien, 66, of Bristol, passed away July 7 at RI Hospital. Born in Hartford, CT, he was a son of the late Harold and Mildred (Votta) O’Brien. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years Denise E. (Marsocci) O’Brien. They shared so many beautiful memories in their 51 years together.
Besides his wife, Michael also leaves behind his son Michael H. O’Brien and wife Elizabeth O’Brien and his cherished granddaughter Ava O’Brien. He was predeceased by his unforgettable daughter Shanna O’Brien. He is also survived by his siblings Keith O’Brien, Gregory O’Brien, Jerry Costabile, Patricia Theroux, and the late Kevin O’Brien.
He enjoyed many hobbies including boating, cycling, skiing, cooking and wine making. He was a proud member of the South Side Social Club.
Michael was a man of many accomplishments and talents. He was the owner of Carrie’s Restaurant for 40 years, a successful property holder throughout the area and completed numerous marathons.
Michael worked incredibly hard his whole life but always made time for his family and friends and he considered those relationships his greatest achievements. It brought him great joy to spend his time with those he loved cooking in any kitchen he could find, and no one would ever be hungry if he was around!
He lived his life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by many.
His funeral will be held Thursday from “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, burial will be private at a later date. VISITATION will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home.
