Mary Louise (Bobay) Murphy, 85, of Cranston, passed peacefully on October 8, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Robert F. and Louise B. (Forest) Bobay.
She was a graduate of Newton College of the Sacred Heart. After graduating she was a third-grade teacher for three years before devoting herself to her own children and family. In her later years she was a volunteer Eucharistic Minister at Rhode Island Hospital. She was a longstanding parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church and a devout Catholic.
She enjoyed gardening, vacationing in the Florida Keys, crafts, sudoku, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John F. Murphy III, and her son and daughters John F. Murphy IV MD and his wife Marjorie Murphy MD, Louise F. Murphy and her husband Jeremy Noessel, and Marie C. Leavitt and her husband Peter Leavitt; and five grandchildren Michael J. Murphy, Christopher A. Murphy, Laura C. Murphy, Jacob P. Leavitt, and James M. Leavitt.
She was the sister of the late Albert, Robert, Richard and Anita Bobay and Cecile Charest.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday, October 14, from 4pm until 7pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Her funeral will begin Tuesday, October 15, at 9am from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
