Mary Baldinelli Obituary

MARY L. BALDINELLI
June 16, 1924 – November 18, 2022

Mary L. Baldinelli, age 98, of Cranston passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022. Born in Providence, Mary was the daughter of Giuseppe and Carmella (DeBlasio) DeRita. She was the beloved wife for seventy-four (74) years of the late John Baldinelli who also passed away at age 98 in 2020.

John and Mary had three children, John Baldinelli and his wife Janice, Dennis Baldinelli and his wife Nancy and Donna Murray and her husband Robert. Mary was the loving mum mum and proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Jay, Scott, and Ryan Baldinelli, Kristin Noel and Kimberly, Kyle, and Keith Murray. Mary also lived to love and enjoy nine great-grandchildren, Kate, Addie, Jack, Nathan, William, Isabella, Rylin, Christian and Cole. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Alfred and Peter DeRita, and her sisters Helen Fabrizio and Josephine Enright. She is remembered by all her nieces and nephews as their favorite aunt who was always so welcoming to them in her home.

As her family grew, she was fond of quoting her own mother and would always say “babies make you happy.” Her family will remember a grandmother who showered them with love and affection and always made them happy. John and Mary enjoyed an enduring marriage represented by their own endless circle of love and abiding commitment to each other. As John would pursue his own dry-cleaning business in Providence, Mary helped support the family by working at the California Artificial Flower Company (Calart). However, it was in their homes on Jordan Avenue or Cambio Court, where Mary excelled in creating a loving and caring environment for her husband and children with great cooking and warm hospitality. She always made holidays special and her home-made pizza, ample dinners of pasta and chicken cutlets were staples in her kitchen when family visited.

Always, a proud and stylish woman, Mary would fiercely demonstrate the desire and ability to remain in her family home until the very end of her life. With a keen mind, occasional hearing challenge and a nightly Baileys Irish Cream, she would enjoy never-ending reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond. Although she missed her life partner, Mary loved the company of family and friends with a nightly question of “it’s early do you have to leave already.” She leaves us now to reunite with her husband and renew a love affair for the ages and an occasional disagreement where both were always right. Mary leaves a legacy of every life she touched and has passed on to her family more than material things, but a beautiful and gracious life so well lived.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 8:45 am from the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive in Cranston. Burial will immediately follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston. VISITATION for family and friends will be Monday, November 21, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
