Maria del Carmen Sanchez "Mariíta" Madera

Maria del Carmen Sanchez de Madera, “Mariíta”, 97, of Providence passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday December 17th, 2022.  Born in the Dominican Republic, she was a daughter of the late Maria Sanchez and Ubardina Almonte. She was the wife of the late Ramon Madera.

Maria was an amazing woman. She was an educator for 30 years in the Dominican Republic, a hard working woman.  She loved her family and protected everyone and everything that she loved and was happiest when surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.   She had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by all.

She was the beloved mother of Humberto Nicholas Sanchez, Juana Ariza, Clara Madera and the late Samuel Sanchez. Cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren; Victor Sanchez, Sandra Estevez, Tania Sanchez, Wendy Santos, Tommy Ariza, Cindy Ariza, Adriana Rodriguez, Humberto Rodriguez, Luisa Rodriguez, Rodolfo Genao, Gustavo Genao, Stephanie Perez, Anthony Del Rosario, Jezreel Polanco, 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and 2 more great-grandchildren on the way. She was the sister of her late siblings Teofilo Sanchez, Manuel Sanchez, Richard Sanchez, twin brother Ysmael “Maelo” Sanchez, Amalia Sanchez and Juan Sanchez.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church 239 Oxford Street Providence, burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITATION at “WOODLAWN” Wednesday 5-8 p.m. Please share memories and condolences at www.WoodlawnGattone.com
