Margot (Stickley) Ferry, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 12. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of James and Margaret (Bennett) Stickley, She is predeceased by her loving husband, Dr. Edward T. Ferry and her sister Ann Leeney. She is survived by her daughter Ann Gibbons and three sons, David, Michael and James, and his wife Sylvia, along with 8 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Margot attended high school at Elmhurst and was a graduate of St. Elizabeth College with a degree in Education. Prior to becoming a full time mom, Margot taught school in Würzburg, Germany and Providence, RI.
She was an active communicant of St. Mark Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher. She also chaired many committees and fundraisers including the Catholic Charity Drive, and the Parish Renovation Campaign. Margot dedicated countless hours volunteering to helping others throughout the community. A testament to her faith, Margot sacrificed and dedicated her time caring for her husband Ted during his prolonged illness.
Margot spent her summers on Potter Pond where she resided full time in later years. Her love of the pond was passed on to her children where the family spent summers boating. Margot had a knack for always catching the biggest fish. She was a member of Point Judith Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge with friends. Margot always loved a good game of High-Low-Jack at the kitchen table with the family and friends (just don’t bid 4 without the Jack!).
The family would like to thank everyone who provided care for our Mom, especially Maxine Whitaker and Kristie Lapointe.
