Margaret Ruth (Giroux) Janikies

Margaret (Giroux) Janikies, 86, of Jamestown, a special person in the hearts of many, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 10, 2025.  Born in Southbridge, MA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eve (Phaneuf) Giroux.

Marge was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas William Janikies. She attended Bryant College where she received a Bachelors Degree (1957). After graduation, she was an instrumental partner along side her husband in creating The Jan Companies.

Marge was passionate about gardening. She enjoyed playing golf, tennis and knitting. She will be forever known as the world’s best gift wrapper, each a work of art as special as she made the recipient feel. Her thoughtfulness would always bring joy to those around her.

A lady of grace and compassion, her generous spirit and warm smile will be deeply missed by family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Marge leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and countless cherished memories. 

Marge was the beloved mother of Melissa Janikies and partner Kelly Brum, Cynthia Janikies Simonson and husband Timothy, William Janikies and wife Sharon, Jonathan Janikies and partner Kraig Brustad. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, Julia Janikies, Kelsey Wadensten and husband Lars Wadensten, three grandsons, Nicholas Simonson, Andrew Simonson and Will Janikies. 

Margaret was also the sister of Joseph Giroux and the late Patricia Botvin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service Friday, February 14th at 10am at the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation, 175 Oaklawn Ave., Cranston, RI.  Burial will follow at Cedar Cemetery, Jamestown, RI. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7pm and Friday, 8-9am at "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave. Cranston, RI.
