Madonna “Donna” (Burns) Della Grotta, 76, of Cedar Springs Terrace, Johnston, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, December 20, 2022. She was the wife of the late Mario Della Grotta and companion of the late Robert Rodi, Sr.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Gertrude “Gladys” (O’Dowd) Burns.
Donna enjoyed Indian bingo, playing cards, Hi/Low/Jack in particular. She also enjoyed her time living in Venice, Florida, before returning to Rhode Island, and enjoyed summering in her condo on Cape Cod and travelling up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire with her companion Bob and friends.
She was the mother of Deborah Wendoloski, Ronald Burns and his wife Lori, Angela DeFalco and her fiancé Alex Quagliozzi, and the late Mario Della Grotta (his wife, Sheri, who survives; the grandmother of James, Kaleigh, Nadia and the late Stephanie Karbowski (her husband, David who survives); the great-grandmother of Reagan and Reese; and the sister of Alan F. Burns and his wife Maureen Faola and the late Jean Celletti (her husband, the late Joseph). She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will begin Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 8:45am from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 5pm until 7pm in the funeral home.
