Madeline M. Freiberger (McHugh), 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 17, 2021 in Tockwotton Nursing Home surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of the late Charles W. Freiberger. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Elsie (Dinosky) McHugh.
Despite Madeline’s ailments she was determined to live her life to the fullest. Working several jobs including, teaching tap and ballet in Pawtuxet, a bus tour guide, a jeweler at E.E. Weller and in her later years an administrative director at Insight Vision Rehabilitation. Madeline was incredibly charitable, volunteering at a number of organizations and programs.
Madeline is survived by her step daughters, Madeline J. Sutherland and Mary Lou Freiberger, her grandchildren Marc, Eric and Scott Sutherland and Jody Viator. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Kevin, Karen, Elizabeth, Paul, Jack, Mary Jean, Matthew, George, Bobby, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Theresa, Ann Marie, Lori, Michael, Lindelle and great nephews Sean and Ryan McHugh. She was predeceased by her brothers, the late John “Jack”, Francis “Hank”, Donald “Ducky” and William “Billy” McHugh.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 23 at 8:45 a.m. from “Woodlawn” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue, Providence. A committal service will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITATION Thursday, April 22, 4-7 p.m. at “Woodlawn” Funeral Home, Cranston.
