Lola Marion (Silvestri) Buonanno, of Warwick, R.I., passed away on July 30, 2025, at the age of 99, surrounded by family. She had been married to the late Bernard J Buonanno, for 48 years prior to his passing. She was born in Providence, R.I., a daughter of the late Bambinella (Santangini) Silvestri and the late Mariano Silvestri. She had lived in Warwick for 74 years.
Lola was proud to have raised her three sons and prior to that she worked a variety of administrative jobs in the Providence School Department.
Lola graduated from Central High School in Providence in 1944, and leaves her sons, Bernard J. Buonanno, Jr and his wife Lisa of Charleston, SC; Anthony D. Buonanno and his wife Jane of Rumford, RI; Thomas E. Buonanno and his wife Maria of Middletown, NJ; her 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Kulchycki and her husband Scott of Mountain View, CA, Kristen Giblin and her husband John of Aberdeen, NJ, Carol Pelletier and her husband James of New York, NY; Michael Buonanno and his wife Kati of Brooklyn, NY; Ashley Buonanno – O’Malley and her husband Desmond of East Greenwich, RI and Gianluca M Buonanno of Charleston, SC, Lisa Vicente of Seekonk, MA and Edward Buonanno of Winthrop, MA; and 8 great-grandchildren Andrew Kulchycki and Alexandra Kulchycki of Mountain View, CA; Nathan Giblin and Sabrina Giblin of Aberdeen, NJ; Anthony Vicente, Dominic Vicente and Lola Vicente of Seekonk, MA; and Maya Frances Buonanno of Brooklyn, NY.
She was predeceased by her sisters Aida Silvestri of Providence; Edda Cleri of Warwick and Vera Florio of North Providence.
Lola was an avid Red Sox fan and who had a brick dedicated to her at Fenway Park noting her being a Lifelong Red Sox fan; she was thrilled when they won their first World Series since 1918 in 2004 as well as witnessing 3 more since then. Additionally, she was a season ticket holder for the Providence College Friars Basketball Team; an opera buff; and a crossword puzzle enthusiast where she would complete 2 Providence Journal’s puzzles each day. She lived for and was devoted to her family; her late husband, her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She welcomed and enjoyed their company early and often.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
