Lester Francis White

Lester F. White, 78, of Cranston, passed away peacefully May 8, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born Aug. 25, 1945, in Everett, MA, he was the son of the late Lester and Alexandra (Zielinski) White.

Mr. White was a proud Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. A Purple Heart recipient, he served as a hospital corpsman and was combat wounded on May 13, 1967.  In addition to the National Defense Service Medal, he was awarded the Vietnamese Service Medal with the FMF Combat Operations Service Insignia as well as the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Lester had a knack for storytelling and was always ready with a joke. His thoughtfulness showed in gestures both big and small. He enjoyed the unique history of objects and had a wide range of interests including a love for automobiles, gardening, and collecting. He worked hard to provide for his family and was proud of all his children.

He leaves his son, Christopher White; his daughters, Nicole and Danielle White; and his sisters, Anita Becker and Patricia White-Lambright.

Services for Lester White are private with military honors and burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery on the 57th anniversary of him being combat wounded while providing medical care as a Navy corpsman for the US Marines.
