On March 8th, 2021, Josephine Mary Tasca, also adoringly known as “Noni”, passed from this world to the next, at her home in Hope, Rhode Island. She was lovingly surrounded and comforted by her family. Josephine has been reunited with her devoted husband, Robert F. Tasca, Sr., her parents Dora and Pasco Cambio, four sisters - Edith Rossignol, Vera Mallane, Anne Antar and Ester Maher and brother, Jack Cambio. Her love and legacy will continue to live on in her daughter, Patricia A. Tasca DeCristofaro (husband Nicholas J. “Duke” Jr.) three sons, Robert F. Tasca Jr. (wife Jayne), Carl A. Tasca Sr. (daughter-in-law Iuna Tasca), David J. Tasca Sr. (wife Janice), her ten grandchildren, Robert F. Tasca III (wife Terri), Jaime M. Tasca Frateschi (husband Marc Sr.), Carl A. Tasca Jr. (wife Tania), Carrie A. Tasca (husband Anthony) Michael J. Tasca Sr. (wife Brianna), Nicole J. DeCristofaro, Rebecca J. DeCristofaro, David J. Tasca Jr. (wife Jessica), Nicholas J. DeCristofaro III & Christie Lee Tasca Williams (husband Joseph) and her sixteen great-grandchildren: Bobby IV, Austin, Cameron, Dylan, Brooke, Marc Jr, Giada, Giordana, Carl III, Michael Jr., Faye, Anthony IV, Benjamin, Jacob, Harper, and Everly. She also leaves behind her brother, Pasco “Pat” Cambio (wife Dotty), brother-in-law Burt Maher, sister-in-law Rosie Cambio, and many nieces and nephews. Josephine also had many friends and caregivers over the course of her life, most notably, Delfina Nascimento, who was by her and her husband’s sides for nearly 30 years.
Josephine was born and raised on Fruit Hill Avenue in North Providence, attended North Providence schooling and would later work at Uncas Manufacturing until she married in 1950. Initially Barrington residents, Bob & Josephine would later develop a family estate in Hope, Rhode Island, overlooking the Scituate Reservoir. It was there that she peacefully passed at 96 years old.
Josephine was devout in every sense of the word: as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. As the wife of Bob Tasca, Sr., founder of Tasca Automotive Group, motor sports and automotive legend, Josephine & Bob traveled the world, but her family’s village of Pratella, Italy was closest to her heart. She remained close to her relatives in Italy and cultivated those relationships over the course of her life, bestowing that same sentiment amongst her family. Josephine embodied every sense of a true Catholic with a special connection to the Blessed Mother. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Rocco’s Church and supported the church through her faith and in many other roles of selfless service over the course of her life. Josephine was the epitome of elegance, having been awarded “10 Best Dressed Women of Rhode Island”, a testament to her Friday morning ritual at Salon Carl Robert with Bobby & Bucci, her dearest friends and hairdressers for over 50 years.
Noni was a woman of strength and dignity, a true legend in her own right. She made everyone feel welcomed and loved in her home and at her table where she was always ready with a feast, most notably her meatballs and spinach pies. Noni was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside and it was evident to all who knew her that she was truly a special woman. Noni was humble, selfless, generous, kind and deeply loving. Her family and her friends were her purpose and passion in life. She will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will live on within each of them.
