Joseph Spremulli Obituary

Joseph Spremulli of Johnston, formerly of Providence and Fort Lauderdale, Florida over the past 30 years, passed away on February 28. He was the beloved son of Luigi and Costanza (Moreno) Spremulli.  He was the husband of Eleanor (Grasso) for 66 years.

Joe served in the National Guard and later enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Young Pannese Social Club and served as President of the Pannese Society and the Pannese Social Club.  He also belonged to the Maria DiPrata Society, the Elks, and Sons of Italy Piava Lodge. Joe was also Manager of the Olneyville Little League and President of the 15th Ward Democratic Association.  He served as a member of the Italian American War Veterans and was a long-time member of the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He also belonged to the Rosario Society.

Generous to a fault, Joe was an amiable guy who was best known for always helping people and fundraising for many worthy causes. He was most proud of his family and supported them in all their endeavors.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving sons Louis Spremulli and wife Carla (Mazzarella) and Joseph Spremulli and wife Judith (Ferri), grandchildren Joseph John Spremulli, wife Christa, Jennafer Spremulli May, husband Robert, and Matthew Louis Spremulli, along with his loving great-grandchildren Milo John Spremulli and Marcus and Lucas May.

He was predeceased by his siblings Mary Palana, Louise Spremulli Chiaromonte, Anthony Spremulli, and John Spremulli.

Joe worked 24 years for the Leesona Corporation and served as Vice President of the IAM Machinist Union. He also worked as a Buildings Coordinator for the City of Providence prior to his retirement in 2004.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m from ''WOODLAWN'' Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Ave. Cranston , followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church,Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery. VISITATION THURSDAY FROM 4 TO 7 P.M.Family would like masks to be worn.
