Joseph B Jackson, 63 of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital.
He was the respected and beloved husband for 36 years of Gloria James - Jackson. Mr. Jackson was born in Liberia, a son of the late Agnes and James Jackson. He graduated from the University of Liberia on May 7, 1986 with a degree in Accounting. He worked at Penal Kerr Foster Accounting Firm and earned a scholarship to further his studies in the United States. While residing in Providence, he worked for the A & H Manufacturing company for 17 years and was a member of the Liberian Association.
Mr. Jackson and his loving wife began their journey together after through a mutual friend in 1985. They truly loved, respected, and cherished one another. They enjoyed each other’s company, going to church, shopping, and cooking. They were protective of one another and genuinely loved each other. According to Mr. Jackson, he was a happy man and he thanked God for his wife and her dedication to him. Recently they were asked by a friend how long they have been married. They laughed and said “36 years but it seemed like just yesterday”.
In addition to his title of beloved husband by his loving wife, “Glo”, he cherished his role as a wonderful dad, and “grammpa”.
Mr. Jackson an avid reader, a great listener and a quiet man that enjoyed walking in the park. In addition to his beloved wife, of 36 years, he leaves his two children, Joel Jackson and Jennifer Jackson Stephenson, his son- in -law, Roshane Stephenson and grandson Adwin Stephenson. He is also survived by his step- mother Yayoh, numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, many in- laws, and friends.
Words are inadequate to describe how he will be tremendously missed. May the good Lord be merciful to him and grant him perpetual peace and rest!
The visitation will be on Friday, April 26th from 4-7 PM at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home at 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. The funeral will be on Saturday, April 27th at 9:15 AM from "WOODLAWN" followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Saint Charles Borromeo Church at 178 Dexter Street in Providence, RI.
