John A. Lonardo, 82, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 28, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ann Carolyn Lonardo. Born in Providence, a son of the late John A. and Audrey (Brown) Lonardo.
John was a supply clerk for U.S. Uniformed Services at the Rhode Island National Guard. He was a member of the Rhode Island Army National Guard, he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Cranston and a member of the Holy Name Society of the church. John was also a member of the Top of The Hill Club at Holy Apostles Church in Cranston and a member of the Cranston Historical Society.
He was the father of David A. Lonardo and his wife Enza, Glen Lonardo and his wife Debi. Grandfather of Alessandra, Michael, Glen Jr., Bianca, Dimitri, Stefano and Lucia. He was the companion of Lillian Favicchio for 20 years. Brother of Audrey Lanna, Carol Masello and her companion Dennis Medeiros, Barbara Jenison and her husband Gary and the late Anthony Lonardo. He was the brother in-law of Sandra Lonardo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John’s funeral will be held Friday, March 6 at 8:45 a.m. from “Woodlawn” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. His visitation will be held Thursday, March 5 at the funeral home 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
