John M. Carpinelli, 64, passed away on September 6, 2022. He was the son of the late John M. and Grace D. (Murray) Carpinelli. He had lived in South Kingstown for 49 years, previously residing in Cranston.
He worked as a custodian and maintenance person for the South Kingstown School Department for 32 years before retiring. He then worked as a crossing guard for the South Kingstown Police Department. John was a Captain/Charter Member and Life Member of the Matunuck Fire Department and a member of the South Kingstown Fire Police. He was an active member of South Kingstown Elks Lodge #1899 for 42 years. He recently completed his term as State President of the Rhode Island State Elks Association. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Wakefield, and a member of St. Romulad Chapel, Matunuck.
He is survived by his brother Robert E. Carpinelli of South Kingstown.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Sept. 16, at 10am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Wakefield. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 15, from 4pm until 8pm in the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston.
