Jazier José "Jaz" Martinez

Jazier José “Jaz” Martinez, age 10, of Warwick, beloved son of Joel José and Yessenia (Cepeda) Martinez passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024. Jaz will be remembered as being the best big brother to his baby sister, Yezlin Mercedes Martinez.

Jaz is the grandson of Ana Pena and the late José B. Martinez II, and of Mercedes Cepeda and the late Narciso Cepeda, and the step-grandson of Luis Pena. He is the nephew and God son of José Martinez III and Judy Cepeda, also the nephew of Edwin Cepeda. Jaz leaves his cousins Amerie Cepeda Ortiz and Rosalynn Martinez and their dogs, Astro and Dream; as well as many other great aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends. He leaves his best buddies Silas, Leo and Adam.

Jaz will be remembered as being the most caring person…a big soul in a kid’s body.  He was a true momma’s boy; was funny, witty and humorous; loved playing Oculus with the “Cool Boys”; eating out; being with his father at car shows, Sunday breakfasts and at the batting cages; reading books with his mom; boxing with his uncle; and playing soccer with the Warwick Firefighters Soccer Club.

He was to enter the 5th Grade at Harold F. Scott School, Warwick, this coming school year.

Visitation will take place Monday, August 19, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. His funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 10am in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
