Janet P. (Lacour) Harrison

Janet, (Lacour) Harrison, age 83, of Johnston passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Janet was born in Providence and moved to her home in Johnston in 1991 where she resided for thirty-one years. She worked as a civil servant for the federal government for thirty-four years until her retirement as an Immigration Services Officer in 2016.

She was the beloved daughter of Loretta and Louis Robert Lacour Junior who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Louis Robert Lacour III; and her beloved sister-in-law, Jeanne Maddalena. She was married to the late Robert E Harrison Senior and enjoyed the last half of her life with longtime friend, the late John Gagliardi.

She is survived by her four children: Robert E Harrison Junior and Beth Hill of Franklin, MA, Timothy Harrison and Claudia Harrison of Las Vegas, NV, Michael Harrison of Phoenix, AZ, and Mary Ann O’Brien and Robert O’Brien Junior of Warwick, RI. Ten grandchildren: Adam Harrison, Bradley Harrison, Kimberly Huddleston, Richie Goss, Heather Harrison, Ryan Harrison, Shaun Hill, Ryan Hill, Leanne Hill, and Daniel O’Brien; twelve great-grandchildren: Kaden, Abby, Bella, Ashton, Tyler, Zack, Kelsi, Alyssa, Brandon, Makayla, Christopher, and Kaliana; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins who she adored.

Janet will always be remembered by those who met her as a kind, passionate, and loving woman who wanted nothing more than to bring joy to her family and friends. She enjoyed singing to her family and friends in only a way Janet knew how — dramatically! She never missed a birthday or opportunity to wish her loved ones well. Her hobbies included cooking for her favorite people, spending time with her grandchildren, and the “occasional” spin of a slot machine. Though she will be missed dearly, her smile and infectious personality will be remembered by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday, June 2, from 1pm until 4pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. A funeral service will begin in the funeral home Friday afternoon at 4pm.
