Jane Georgia (Russell) Kilmer

Jane Georgia (Russell) Kilmer of Charlestown, RI passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 at the age of 88. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Russell) Gracia, her children William Kilmer, Thomas Kilmer and his wife Charlene, and Elizabeth Paquin, grandchildren Andrew Paquin, Ashley Paquin, Stacey Odum, Heather Odum, Jamie Odum, their families, and many nieces and nephews. She is warmly reunited with her beloved husband William M. Kilmer.

Jane was born in New Bedford, MA with a playful and competitive nature that remained throughout her life. She proudly attended Bridgewater State University to begin her career as a teacher. This role defined more than her occupation, as she extended warmth and guidance to all in her community with a special affection to those with different abilities. 

Jane married Bill on October 13, 1962, and they raised their children in Gloucester, MA. She spent as much time outdoors as she could, and was often seen biking long distances and taking frequent dips in the ocean. As a neighbor, Jane spent her time gardening, leading summer camps and youth programs, and setting an extra seat at the dinner table for anyone in need of love and a home-cooked meal.

She moved to Charlestown with Bill in 2003. Here, she continued her love for giving back as a volunteer for many organizations, such as a religious educator at both her grandchildren’s and her own parishes. She remained an avid card player, and relished updates on how everyone she knew was doing. Jane’s love reached many, and her legacy of kindness and compassion will be continued by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Monday, June 2, from 4pm until 5:45pm in the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a service beginning in the funeral home at 5:45pm.
