James Nickolas Obituary

James Nickolas, 85 of Cranston, passed away on Saturday April 1, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.  James is survived by his wife of almost 63 years Nancy (Johnson). 

Besides his wife, Jim is survived by his loving children, Jill Stewart and her husband James of Cranston, Judy Fiori and her husband Frank of South Carolina, Jeff Nickolas and his partner Karen Brophy of Cranston, Jennifer Madden of Cranston, Penny Tran and her husband Quan of Cumberland and forever daughter in law Tracie Kaiser of Wood River Jt.

Papou to five Grandchildren, Amanda Nickolas, Ashley Nickolas, Nickolas Stewart, Zachary Madden and Ella Tran.Big Papou to two Great-Grandchildren Alanah and Jeremy.

He was the brother of Mary Pereira, Harry Nicolopoulos, Theodore Nicolopoulos, and the late Ann Hague, Cristoula Nicolopoulos and Panayota Ashukian.

Born in Krestena Greece on Feb 15, 1938 he was the son of the late Nicoluos and Penelope (Boustris) Nicolopoulos. In 1948 Jim came to the US (Ellis Island) with his family.

Jim was a Chef for most of his life at many of RI's famous restaurants, but he was mainly known for making his FAMOUS hot wieners at Ted's NY System. Jim AKA "Jimmy the Greek" was an avid NY Yankees fan, he loved to play poker and bowling. He was inducted into the RI Bowling Hall of Fame. He bowled countless (89) perfect 300 games. Even after he lost his vision he continued to bowl for as long as he could. If you were lucky enough to be a friend, and he was friends with everyone he met, he was sure to give you a nickname. Besides his kids and grandkids his pride and joy was his blue convertible 1966 GTO. He was a TRUE LEGEND!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Thursday, April 6, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston with a Funeral Home Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Pallative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904
