James Del Fiore Obituary

James A. Del Fiore, 81, of Cranston, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Kupis) Del Fiore. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Genevieve (Lombardi) Del Fiore.

He attended LaSalle Academy and graduated from Cranston East High School. He attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. He was a distinguished member of the Air Force Reserve and R.I. Air National Guard. He was a member of the R.I. Softball Umpires Association for two decades, serving as lead umpire for the East Greenwich Softball Association. He served as a coach and mentor for youth sports.

He operated and owned Six Corner Dry Cleaners in East Providence until his retirement in 2002. Upon his retirement, he became more involved in the Knights of Columbus Cranston Council #1738. During his fifty years of membership, he served as the president of the Council’s corporation, rental director for special events, and bar manager at their Park Avenue location. His membership in the Knights fed his passion for charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. His love of sports, the New York Yankees, traveling the country, and a good laugh were his other joys, but these paled in comparison to his greatest joy of spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he leaves his daughter Paula M. Del Fiore; his son and daughter-in-law, James J. Del Fiore and Misato Saki; his grandsons, Alexander and Anthony Del Fiore; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the devoted brother of Phyllis Del Fiore and the late Adeline Canada.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will be private. Visitation is respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are greatly appreciated in his name to the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
