Idmael Elmonus, 38 years old, sadly departed this life on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Scarborough Beach, Narragansett, RI, while trying to aid distressed swimmers. Idmael Elmonus was born on December 16, 1984, to Pierre and Marie Elmonus in Arcahaie, Haiti. He was the first of eight children. In 1994, Idmael and his parents along with his siblings migrated to the United States.
Growing up he attended The Salvation Army Corps Church in Westbury, NY. He graduated from Westbury High School in June 2003, and went on to study at the New England Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Video and Radio Production Technology in Rhode Island.
Idmael had a passion for cooking and some of his hobbies were photography, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Manisly Camille, son Mekhilo Elmonus, daughter Zariah; his parents Pierre Elmonus, Marie Elmonus, three brothers; Spendy Elmonus, Idwelson Elmonus, Peterson Oliver and four sisters; Tharonza Elmonus, Laika Elmonus, Idmelda Elmonus, and Caphtha Elmonus. Including his family, friends, and colleagues.
Idmael was a guiding light in his family, a true beacon of love and strength. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his generosity, thoughtfulness, and selflessness. He had a smile that would light up any room that he entered, and a heart of gold. His jokes and willingness to always have a good time. Idmael was headstrong and had so much purpose in life.

Visitation will be held Saturday morning, July 29, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM in the Elmwood Avenue Church of God, 297 Elmwood Ave., Providence, where a Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
