Guido Romano, Jr., 71, of Tudor St., Cranston, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, February 1, 2023. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Tine) Romano.
Born Jan. 16, 1952, in Providence, he was the son of the late Guido Romano Sr. and the late Louise (Vacca) Romano.
Guido began his career in the family business of Romano Funeral home; he then became the proud founder and operator of American Driving School and Toro Auto Sales for over 30 years before retiring to enjoy life on the beach and in the pool with his puppies and family. He was known for his jolly personality and for leaving his door open for anyone to come through on a whim and spend time socializing and laughing. He loved taking road trips to beaches across the coast, enjoying the sun along the way in his convertible. Summer time was his favorite season and he would beam with joy when his grandchildren came to spend days in the pool, bringing out the best in him. Guido was an animal lover and had many pets through the years, including his first love, Ceasar, Scruffy, and his newest addition, Frosty, who was his best friend and never left his side.
He leaves his four children, Jeffrey Romano, Michael Romano, Sherri Romano and Renee Romano; their mother, Debra Romano; 7 grandchildren, Alexia, Amanda, Sarah, Giavanna, Gianni, Christiana and Marchello; 2 great granddaughters, Arielle and Isabella. He also leaves his sister, Connie Ramsey, her husband Dean Ramsey and their daughter and her husband, Ariana and Doug Moore and his great nephew James Moore.
His funeral will begin Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 10am from the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Holy Apostles Church, Cranston. Visitation will take place Tuesday morning from 8:30am until 10am in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
