Gloria J. Nicolopoulos (Balcom), 81, of Cranston, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, while under the care of Hope Hospice. She was the loving and devoted wife of Harry Nicolopoulos Sr. for 60 years. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Horridge) Balcom.
Gloria was a hairdresser for many years and continued to care for her clients up until her recent illness. She watched over Harry Sr. and was truly dedicated to him. Gloria loved to cook and was passionate about preparing food for her family. Every Monday her children would visit and pick up their meals for the week that she had lovingly made for them.
Always very friendly and outgoing, Gloria was blessed by creating and maintaining long-lasting special friendships. She was also known for her love of shopping…she would shop ‘til she dropped.’
Besides her husband, Gloria is survived by her loving children, Sherri Cesario, and life partner Bruce Cunha, Harry Nicolopoulos Jr. and devoted companion Jeanne Darcy; and her cherished grandchildren Jason Nicolopoulos, Krystina Cesario, and Adrianna Nicolopoulos, who she adored. She was the sister of Nancy Spinney and the late George Balcom Jr. and Frank Balcom.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral and visitation Friday, July 1st from 8:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Funeral Service at 12 noon at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greek Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
