Gloria N. (Ferri) McHugh, 104, of Cranston, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Wednesday, March 11, 2026. She was the wife of the late Patrick F. McHugh, CPD, ret.
Born November 22, 1921, in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Rocco “Roy” Ferri and Jeannette (SanMartino) Ferri.
Gloria worked for more than 40 years at Cranston Municipal Employees Credit Union. While working and in retirement she enjoyed traveling the world, walking along the shore on Narragansett Town Beach and spending time with her family and friends. She was a ferocious reader and a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
She leaves her 3 children, Maureen H. McHugh of Texas, Laurie P. (the late Edward) Mercier of Cranston, Patrick F. (Donna) McHugh of Florida. Devoted “Big Nana” of 4 grandchildren, Edward Mercier, Jr., Kelly P. Mercier, Christopher McHugh and Michael McHugh. Her 3 great-grandchildren, Leah Mercier, Mason DiMezza and Kelsey McHugh. She was the sister to Joseph R. Ferri of Virginia and Ann M. Tartaglione of Cranston and so many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews whom she adored. While she cherished her family deeply, her love extended far beyond relatives. She was everyone’s BIG NANA.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday, March 16, from 4pm until 7pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Her funeral will be held at 8:45am Tuesday, March 17, at “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Entombment will take place at Our Risen Christ Mausoleum at St. Ann Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
